Do I have to file a Louisiana state tax return because I receive royalties from rental property there?

it depends but according to the LA Department of Revenue - Louisiana residents, part-year residents of Louisiana, and nonresidents with income from Louisiana sources who are required to file a federal income tax return must file a Louisiana Individual Income Tax Return. So if you are required to file a federal income tax return, then you will need to file an LA state income tax return to report your LA sourced royalties from rental property.
