I received $35.43 cash in lieu of DXC fractional shares. I received a 1099B form with the following info: 1B date acquired - blank; 1C date sold - 3/31/17; quantity sold 0.509; 1D proceeds - $35.43; 1E cost or other basis - blank. I have hundreds of HPE shares purchased over many years in different allotments (employee stock purchase). Is this considered short-term or long-term? And what should I put into the TT cost basis box - is it based on the HPE stock price or the DXC stock price? Or could I just add the $35.43 to misc income and not add it under the 1099B section? Thank you!
