Can I operate AirBnB using rental unit under H1B?

I'm on H1B visa. if I rent properties (not live there) and list it on AirBnB, only hire professional cleaners to take care of it. I don't provide substantial services or invest too much time in it. is it considered passive or active income? can I still operate it this way given that I'm on H1B status?

For tax purposes, yes, you can do that on your H1B visa.  However, you should check if that is allowed for your visa.

If services are not provided (such as maid service, meals, concierge services) it is passive income, and the rental is reported in the rental section and is shown on Schedule E of your tax return.

I'm looking for the same info. I read Airbnb issues a 1099-K, would that need to be reported on Schedule C or E ?

If "services" are provided, it is a business on Schedule C.
If no "services" are provided, it goes on Schedule E.
