You cannot claim the rental income on your income tax return if the house is still in the name of the estate. If that is the case, then the estate, which is considered to be a separate taxable entity and should have its own tax ID number (TIN or EIN), will have to file its own income tax return (Form 1041) to report the rental income, provided the total estate income is $600 or more.
