Are 401B investments considered stocks and mutual funds or are these filed in a different section

You basically DON'T report transactions that go on inside a retirement account like a 401(b) or 401(k), an IRA account, etc.  Retirement accounts, for the most part, are "black boxes" to the IRS; they see none of the details contained within that account.
