You did not specify whether the income came from a pension, IRA distribution or Social Security.
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
The taxable amount will show up on line 4b, line 5b , or line 6b of the Form 1040.
