Retirement tax questions
You have to be all the way inside of your return before you search. After you sign in, make sure you click on ''Pick up where I left off'' before you search. @Noppie3503
Form 1099-G reports certain types of government payments you received during the tax year. Examples include unemployment, paid family leave, or if you received a state or local tax refund for a prior tax year.
Many types of 1099-G income are taxable, including unemployment, although it is your total income (from all sources) that determines whether or not you need to pay taxes on 1099-G payments. Determine whether or not you need to pay taxes.
The 1099-G is also used to report less common sources of income, including taxable energy grants, agricultural payments, and others. See below for instructions on how to enter 1099-Gs.
Where do I enter a 1099-G for a state or local tax refund?
Where do I report a 1099-G for unemployment or paid family leave?
Do I need to report the state or local refund I got last year? Is it taxable?
What other types of 1099s do you need instructions for?
