Deductions & credits

@ravenclaw328 Wow----you have posted about this three times in some really long run on sentences that are confusing.   But it sounds like you have a 23 year old son who lived with you and that you supported.   If he had no income then you can claim him as your dependent and you will be able to get the $500 credit for other dependents for claiming him, and the third stimulus check of $1400 for claiming him.   Dependents do not get stimulus checks so he will not get any of those checks himself, not the first, second or third one.

You cannot get the first or second stimulus amounts for claiming him on your 2020 return since you can only get the recovery rebate credit for a dependent who was UNDER the age of 17 at the end of 2020.   The age limit changed for the third check so you can receive that--assuming you are otherwise eligible to receive stimulus checks.   There is no place on a 2020 return to enter anything about that third check, so if you claim him it will come later after the IRS processes your 2020 return and sends you a "plus up" check.

TurboTax cannot track your 3rd stimulus or tell you when it will arrive.  The IRS is issuing 3rd stimulus checks on its own timetable.

You can use the IRS Get My Payment site to see what is expected for your 3rd stimulus check:

Just enter your son as a dependent in My Info and answer the questions about whether he supported himself---he did not pay for over half his own support.
