@Kierro As a fraud prevention measure, the IRS or state can randomly request and require that you verify your identity. They do not even need a "reason." They have the right to make the request, and yes, it delays your refund. TurboTax gets no information at all from the IRS or the state after you file your tax return. TT is out of the picture and has nothing to do with the identity verification process you are going through with the IRS or state. The IRS is severely backlogged, so many things are taking much longer than normal. The "normal" time frame for getting your federal refund after verifying your identity is nine weeks---but it may take much longer than that due to the backlog at the IRS.
Only the IRS (or your state--we do not know which required you to verify your identity since you did not explain). Your best source of information is the IRS refund site or your state's refund site.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
