After you file
@4175931304 You say in your post above that the IRS rejected your e-file. E-filing has been closed for 2020 returns for weeks. When did you try to e-file it? The only way to file a 2020 return now is by mail. You will need to print it, sign it in ink and mail it in. Expect a long time for the IRS to process a mailed returns. It is often taking them six months or more to process mailed returns.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
You will be able to access the return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it. But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.
