After you file
You mailed your tax return in June of 2021? This is only June 16. You would be lucky if they have even touched the envelope by now, so do not expect a fast refund from a mailed return. Mailed returns typically take longer to process than e-filed returns. Even in "normal" times it would be unrealistic to expect a refund in less than 6-8 weeks from a mailed return. The backlogged IRS is taking much longer to process returns and issue refunds so it will likely be awhile before you will even see any information on the IRS refund site for your refund.
When the IRS opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

COVID-19 Mail Processing Delays
It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:
- Paper tax returns, and
- All tax return related correspondence.
We are processing all mail in the order we received it.
Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS.
