After you file

Once you have used the program to file, you will be charged.  There is no agreement TurboTax is obligated to wait until you receive your refund before we charge you.  I understand your frustration but you are not alone.  Although the IRS has processed and issued most refunds from e-filed returns around 21 days, because of the backlog caused by the unprecedented situation of Covid, Cares Act, Stimulus and the recent American Rescue Plan Act, some of the returns will require more time to review.

You might need to contact the IRS since it's been more than 21 days.  https://www.irs.gov/help/telephone-assistance  or IRS.

What is your current e-file status?  Click here:  TurboTax and IRS

You might also want to consider this:

It is also possible that you owed IRS and they took your refund to offset the debt.  I will suggest you contact the Treasury Offset Program at 800-304-3107 to find out.  If this does not apply to you , call the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service at 1-877-777-4778.

Here are the possible reasons when the offset is taken:

  • Past due child support;
  • Debts owed to a federal agency;
  • Unemployment debts owed to the state;
  • Past due federal student loans;
  • Unpaid state income tax.
