After you file
What? It does not ever ask you when you want your tax refunded. But it can ask when you want the IRS to take money OUT of your bank account to pay tax you owe.
If you entered a bank account for a direct debit that means the IRS is going to take that out of your bank account.
It sounds like you chose April 15 as the date to take out the money--tax filing deadline day.
You must have confused a "tax due" amount with a tax refund. Please LOOK at your actual tax Form 1040. Print it and look at line 23---does it show tax due? That means you owe and said you will pay on April 15, 2020 so make sure enough money is in your account that day.
A tax refund would be shown on line 20.
