After you file
The timing of a federal tax return refund and one from your state vary and the timing is unrelated. You can check your federal refund status on "Where's My Refund?" . Typically you will receive your refund in about 21 days after you tax return is accepted by the IRS if you filed electronically and selected direct deposit. Now, if you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) you may have a delay.
