After you file

The Form 8962 will be included with the tax return if a Form 1095-A that you received for Marketplace Insurance was entered in the Health Insurance section of the TurboTax program.

With the 2016 program started and the 2016 tax data file opened -

  1. Select the Federal Taxes tab
  2. Select the Health Insurance tab.
  3. Answer the questions about your health insurance which includes entering your 1095-A.
  4. Select the File tab 
  5. Select Print/save for your records
  6. Select Save a PDF
  7. Select Form 8962 and Form 1040 and print them.
  8. Send the following to the IRS address or FAX number given in your IRS letter:

Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit

Copy of your Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement

A copy of the IRS letter that you received.

Only if the refund or owed amount has changed: Also include your Form 1040
