Get your taxes done using TurboTax
There may be some other reason for the delay. You are right that it is tough to reach the IRS right now.
Try creating or logging in to your IRS account. You can try to see why there is such a long delay. To do this, click the link: IRS View Your Tax Account.
- Here are some common reasons for delays:
- If there is anything in the return affected by the PATH Act,
- If someone else claimed any dependents reported,
- In some cases, if there are government debts owed, or
- If there was a Premium Tax Credit that needs to be recalculated
- If there was any unemployment income reported that became nontaxable up to $10,2000 March 11
- If there were any errors that the IRS will automatically recalculate for the stimulus payments and other changes to the tax law because of the American Rescue Plan passed March 11.
The only other thing you could do is to try to get a Taxpayer Advocate. It will require more persistence and patience, though.
- Click the link for help getting a local taxpayer advocate. Contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service Online at: Taxpayer Advocate Service Contact Us.
