You do not transfer a pdf to start the new 2020 return---you transfer a tax file. And if you are in online software you have to be using exactly the same account and user ID to transfer 2019 to 2020.

You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.
