Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Verified that CD-ROM works with other type CDs and has an up to date driver

Are you using Windows 8.1?
Here are the current system requirements for 2020 TurboTax:
However, that FAQ may be in error. It says for 2020: "Windows 10 or later (Windows 7 not supported)". Oddly, that FAQ doesn't mention Windows 8.1, so it's confusing, and that FAQ may well be in error, especially since this other FAQ updated a week ago clearly says Windows 8 is OK. It says: "For tax year 2020, all TurboTax desktop products require Windows 8 or higher to install."

Likewise, the CD jacket itself says "Windows 8 or higher."
So I suspect that first FAQ is in error, and that it will install on Windows 8/8.1, but I'm notifying Moderators to confirm and correct. In any case here's another way to launch the setup file on the CD:
Installing from the CD:
If installation doesn't start automatically after you insert the CD into your computer's CD drive, follow the directions below.
- Hold down the Windows+R keys to open the Run window.
- Click Browse, and then navigate to the TurboTax CD on your CD/DVD/RW drive (usually Drive D).
- Double-click the setup.exe file to begin the installation.
- When you get to the Your product is installed, now let's activate it screen, enter your license code in the License code box, and select Continue to complete installation.
Tip: Your CD purchase also qualifies you for a program download, if desired. If you continue to have problems with a CD, you can request the downloadable version. See this FAQ on how to get it from the TurboTax site and have it placed in your account:
Note: You must set up a TurboTax account first if you don't already have one.
