Get your taxes done using TurboTax
When you get a rejection for a duplicate Social Security number you cannot e-file. Rejections come from the IRS--not from TurboTax. Your fee was for using the software to prepare a tax return--there was no extra fee for e-filing. The fee is the same whether you e-file or print and mail it.
If you used the non-filer site to get a stimulus check, that is why your return is being rejected now. Or it could be that someone--somehow--used your SSN on a tax return already--in which case the IRS will sort it out.
Either way--you cannot e-file. You have to print, sign and mail your tax return.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes--they go to different addresses.
