The desktop editions come with 5 free federal return e-files (set by IRS rules). After the 5 e-files any further federal tax return can be printed and mailed to the IRS.
There is an e-file charge for each state tax return of $19.99 or $24.99 depending on when the state return is e-filed (except New York state which is free). You can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state tax returns.
