How many 2017 federal and state taxes can I do with turbo tax premier? Thanks

Want to do son's fed and state also. when 2017 turbo tax becomes available...

Using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions you can create and complete as many federal and state tax returns as needed with no further charge.  The desktop editions come with 5 free federal return e-files (set by IRS rules).  After the 5 e-files any further federal tax return can be printed and mailed to the IRS.

There is an e-file charge for each state tax return of $19.99 or $24.99 depending on when the state return is e-filed (except New York state which is free).  You can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state tax returns.

TT Premier online charges $40 to file a state return!!!! Not $20 or $25. AND you can't print it to mail it in. Doesn't say that in the information...and it used to not be that way.

You CANNOT do state returns in online TT Premier at all, unless you pay $40 to efile.

See it says State Additional on each one.  Click on "State Additional" and a pop up shows the price for state.

You can print and mail state.   Are you having a problem doing that?  You have to pay the fees before you can print.  You don't have to efile state, not even if you efiled federal.   How to print and mail,

Oh, I see your confusion. The fee isn't to Efile. Efiling is free and included. In the Online versions the fee is to prepare the return whether you Efile OR print and mail.

Wrong. The fee is $40 to EFILE A STATE RETURN. Importing the info from the fed return into it is free.  There is also a mysterious unidentified $8.50 fee that appeared on my charge card. I've lost trust in TT and will be changing to a different service next year.

Sorry, in the Online version the fee is 39.99 to prepare and start a State return. Sure you can transfer federal to state but Before you can print or efile you have to pay the fee.  The 8.50 might not be from Turbo Tax. What is the exact description on the charge?

Or you might be seeing the extra 39.99 Refund Processing Service charge. (Same amount as a state return). That is if you choose to have the fees deducted from your federal refund. You can avoid it by paying with a credit card .
