Get your taxes done using TurboTax

If the IRS is rejecting your return with the F8962-070 code, that means there is information in their system that you did have marketplace insurance, with a premium tax credit (and they normally get that info from a Form 1095 that the marketplace issues). Normally, we advise our customers to fix the rejection and refile by following these steps. (So if there’s any chance that you—or any dependent on your return— had such coverage for even one month of 2022, this might be applicable once you chase down the 1095.)

However, if you’re completely certain nobody was covered with a credit, this IRS article on the matter advises you to send your return with an “ACA Explanation,” and any proof of non-enrollment you can get. Unfortunately, that probably means mailing it all in (as you’ll want to include documentation showing you were covered by the employer plan too).

The IRS system does have occasional glitches that cause taxpayers extra headaches. Hopefully this isn’t a huge one for you, sondrajean08-yah, but we’ll be here to advise as you proceed!
