Hello. my daughter made an error when efiling three years ago. She thought she had e-filed and somehow it was never processed. Can she go back and e-file it now or does she have to do somethign different?

Per IRS Guidelines:
E-Filing Tax Years Available in 2025
For 2025, the last tax year that can be e-filed is 2022. The IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) system accepts returns for the current year and the two prior years.
Available e-filing years in 2025
Using the IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) system, you can e-file returns for the following tax years:
2024:The current tax year, with a deadline of October 15, 2025, for those who filed an extension.
2023:The prior tax year. **Please say "Thanks" by clicking the thumbs up icon in a post ***Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on the "Mark as Best Answer"
2022:The last prior year available for e-filing.
Important considerations
Prior to 2022:Any tax returns for years before 2022 must be printed, signed, and mailed to the IRS.
Annual shutdown:The IRS typically shuts down the e-file system for maintenance between late November and January, during which no electronic returns can be sent.
Free File limitations:If you use IRS Free File, you can only use it for the current tax year. You will need to use a tax preparer or specific tax software to e-file prior-year returns.
Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN):If you have been issued an IP PIN from the IRS, it is required for validating any prior-year return you wish to e-file.

FYI- And even if the IRS allows efiling for 2022 & 2023, Turbo Tax only lets you efile the current year 2024. To efile prior years you would have to find someone else. Probably a local accountant.
