Dependent filed a return stating they were not a dependent

My son filed a return that stated they were not a dependent, he amended the return and refiled and it was accepted, but I cannot file my return because the IRS still thinks his is marked as not being my dependent.  How do I go about fixing that?

Thanks!

There are two possible remedies.   One is for you to print, sign and mail your own tax return since you cannot e-file.   It will be months before the IRS processes your son's amended return and it will not "catch up" in the system this year.

Or... use an IP PIN to e-file:

GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return

Thank you!  I've created my IP PIN, but now when I try to efile it wants me to pay my taxes again - I had paid them when I filed the extension.  How do I get around that?

Thanks for your help!

When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due.  Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return?

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes
