What are a few ways to raise your credit score?

I am wondering what ways a young college student like myself can raise my credit score?

A few suggestions:

  • Make your payments on time, every time. A single late payment can stay on your credit report for a long time.
  • Stop using your credit cards. This will lower your debt utilization ratio
  • Check your credit report. Your report may contain errors that are affecting your score. You can request a free copy at AnnualCreditReport.com
  • Raise your credit limits. This one may be hard to do if you are student, but its worth a try.

Starting in March 2018 I am working with National Debt Relief (NDR) to lower the amount due on most of my credit cards and bank loans.

I pay NDR $1,381 a month to use to lower my amounts due.  NDR is doing a good job, but because they recommend that I NOT pay off certain cards and loans amounts due so that NDR can negotiate better terms for me.  This, of course, causes me to be late on my payments until they can set up a negotiated settlement with each credit card and bank loan account.  This, of course, attacks my credit score which has steadily declined since I started working with NDR.

Do you have any suggestions?
