What should I do if TurboTax checked a box incorrectly? I am taking the Lifetime Learning Credit and on Form 8863 Part III Line 22 a 3 the box was checked no.

I am taking the Lifetime Learning Credit and on Form 8863 Part III Line 22 a 3 the box was automatically checked no when it should have been a yes. I went back to see if I missed a question but I've filled everything out correctly. It just automatically put no. How do I change this?

The lifetime learning credit is automatically applied in TurboTax if you qualify for an education credit but don't qualify for the American Opportunities credit, normally because you have completed four years of education. It will give you a larger credit than the lifetime learning credit typically.

If you think you don't qualify for the American Opportunities credit and have entered everything correctly in TurboTax, I suggest you delete your for 1098-T and start that section over.

Thank you! I looked at it again and realized that I was just looking at that line in the wrong way whenever I researched a little bit more about it. I knew I qualified for the lifetime learning credit, I just didn't know exactly what that line was for. I appreciate your help!
