We don't qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit because we make too much and I know the American Opportunity Credit is only for Undergrad expenses. I don't want to not show the 1098T for Graduate School because that is sent to the IRS,
The problem is that when I enter the 1098T, Turbotax is giving me the American Opportunity credit even though it is for Graduate tuition. That is incorrect-how do I prevent this?
Could you go to the final review page to see if the American Opportunity credit is removed while keep 1098T form as is?
I don't need to show this even though it's been reported to IRS?
Is there any penalty if I don't show a 1098T on my return even if it has no effect on my taxes?
