Trying to understand if I'm eligible for AOTC. The question is if I got earned four years of college credits before. The answer is yes, but from another country.

I lived outside of the US for over 30 years. Then moved to the US. So i haven't got AOTC when I was in college, so i'd think i might be eligible for AOTC now. Not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry, you are not eligible for the American Opportunity Credit. One of the requirements for the credit is that you have not completed 4 years of postsecondary education. If you have completed 4 years of postsecondary education it doesn't matter where you completed it or whether you used the American Opportunity Credit at the time.

You might be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit.
