The TT software is claiming that I already claimed 4 years of the American opportunity (college) credit, but that cannot be. Suggestions on how to "correct" the software?

The software cannot know how many times you claimed the credit unless you tell it. Go over the interview for the credit and see your answer to whether you claimed the credit 4 times.
