Paid tuition for my girlfriend to go to college can i claim that monies on my taxes?

Tuition was paid by me for someone else to attend school. Can I claim the money I paid on my taxes?

You would need to be able to claim your girlfriend as a dependent before you can claim education tax breaks. You can claim your girlfriend as a dependent if the following applies:

  1. You lived together for the entire year.
  2. She made less than 4,050 dollars for the year.
  3. You provided more that half of her support.
