Noncompensatory Graduate fellowship and schedule C

I receive a 1099 Misc to reflect my noncompensatory graduate fellowship.  Turbotax then makes me complete schedule C and fill out business info as if I'm a sole proprietor.  Is this the way it is supposed to work?  I thought it was just 1040 schedule SE? Please advise me.

You can report it on line 8 of Schedule 1, as other income. Enter at the 1099-Misc screen. But, if you are someone’s dependent, it’s better if you enter it as Scholarship (it affects your standard deduction calculation)”. For step by step instructions see:
