Pell grants and other scholarships are not reported on  form 1099-Misc. Most scholarships are reported by the school, in box 5, of form 1098-T.

If you have scholarships, in addition to what's in box 5, you enter them from your own records.

In TurboTax (TT), enter at:

Federal Taxes Tab

Deductions & Credits (not in the income section)

-Scroll down to:

--Education

  --Education Expenses

After entering the 1098-T (if you got one), the TT interview will ask if you received other grants and scholarships. Any portion of the grants that are taxable will be placed on line 7 of form 1040 or 1040A (line 1 of form 1040EZ) with the notation 'SCH'.
