My 1098-T has 5000 in tuition in bx 2 but NOT the "course fees" & "over 12 hours of classes fees" of 3000. These ARE tuition! Where do I put these expenses on my return??

Again, the 1098-T shows the flat tuition charge of 5000. but there were related expenses of another 3000. that had to be paid to the school - "course fees" and "over 12 hours of classes" fees. Those are tuition fees! Where, on the return, do I put these additional fees?

To enter your course fees and class fees that were NOT included in your tuition statement 

  1. Click Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions and Credits
  3. Expenses and Scholarships
  4. Enter your 1098-T
  5. Under Box 2 in Blue it says "what if this is not what Tax Paid to this school" Click here
  6. Enter the full amount of tuition and course fees you paid to the school
