It doesn't look like I got the education credit and I was in college 2024. How do I know and how do I amend my return to get it if I hadn't?

 Form 8863 is used to figure and claim the education credits.

 Refundable American opportunity credit goes on Form 1040 line 29.

Nonrefundable education credits goes on Schedule 3 (Form 1040), line 3.

 

To preview your 1040 and schedule 3:

1. From the left  menu in TurboTax Online, 
2. Select Tax Tools 
3. Select Tools 
4. On the pop-up menu titled “Tools Center”, select View Tax Summary 
5. On the left sidebar, select Preview my 1040 
6. Scroll down to see schedule 3.
