If my 1098 amount shows different than what my actual taxes are should I change or leave what 1098 reports? Would my VA disability exemption be part of the problem?

It's possible, but if you escrow your property taxes, the mortgagor should have that information.

Nevertheless, if you have the correct amount of property taxes that were paid in 2024 in total, you may enter the correct information on the 1098 input screen.  Box 1098 from your 1098 isn't a required piece of information, so there is no error that will occur when you edit this field.
