If I have a college student not required to file federal tax (earned income $3,200) but received a 1099 misc scholarship for tuition ($1,000). Does she need to file?

That will add to her income total.

Yes, but it still falls below minimum income requirements.  I'm just wondering if the 1099 MISC will require her to file taxes regardless.
