I just started school this year. I haven't been in school for the past few years and wanted to know if I could add my college expenses for this tax season?

I also wonder if I could reuse that information for next year as well or if I should just wait and keep record until next year

Q. Can I add my college expenses for this tax season?

A. Yes. College expenses incurred and paid for in 2023 must be claimed on the 2023 tax return. They cannot be saved and used on the 2024 tax return. 

Be careful; in you went to school in 2023, you can not wait until 2024 to pay the 2023 tuition bill.  To be an eligible expense, for the tuition credit, it must paid for in the same year the classes were taken.
