I had to pay over $500 in High School fees for my child. books, labs, etc. is this deductible? This is for a Public School

There is no allowable Federal income tax deduction for these costs.  Some states (IL for one) do allow deductions or credits for such costs.  If your state does, TT will cover them during the state interview.
