I don't have a 1098-E form how do I figure out how much interest I paid

Is it just the amount I paid for the loan last year?

No, it is the interest you paid on your student loan. If it was less than $600, the lender wasn't required to issue a 1098-E. You might be able to find the interest on another document, such as a year-end statement, or from your online account with the lender. Please see the FAQs below for more information.
