I am unsure if I have any education credit carryovers. I am trying to understand the 8863 form vs. 8863-K form and the differences between the two.

I do not recall ever receiving any 8863-K form, but my past returns do have information in terms of the 8863 form. I need to understand the difference and how to navigate the information on the 8863 information in my past tax returns so that I can determine if I have any education credit carryovers (in terms of Kentucky education tuition tax credits from prior years).

Form 8863 would be included with your Federal return.

Form 8863-K would be part of your Kentucky return and Form 8863-K is what you would need to determine if you have any credit to carryover to your 2022 Kentucky return.

Please look to see if Form 8863-K was included with your 2021 Tax Year Kentucky return, and if so, look at page 3 to see if there is any credit that was carried forward.
