I am ofsetting my 1098-T with room and board. I live off campus and eat out. Can I deduct my restaurant expenses?

No, meals are a personal expense, no matter where they are consumed.

Room and board charges are not a qualifying educational expense for any of the federal educational tax benefits.

For more information, please see IRS Education Benefits Comparison Chart.
