I am a physician and my employer pays me Continuing Medical Education $5000 per academic year from July to june, Can the money I spent from this CME be deducted as expens

If the reimbursement is taxable income (ie. as designated in box #1 on your W-2) you can deduct your continuing education expenses in full.

Otherwise, one can only deduct unreimbursed expenses.

To deduct your continuing education expenses:

  • Type in 2106 in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass

  • Click the jump to 2106 link in the search results.

  • Follow the prompts and onscreen instructions
