How to add Fulbright Scholarship received as Visiting Professor

I am hoping to receive help on how to properly add a Fulbright Scholarship that I received for a 5-month visiting professorship in Australia last year, i.e., I was not pursuing a degree but working on research projects. When I put in the amount received as Other Earned Income, only the amount appears in the tax file PDF and not the description I enter or the SCH (scholarship tag). Basically, only the amount without any explanation appears, which I worry will make the IRS suspicious. Thank you for your kind advice!

What line on the forms is the income showing up on. Starting in 2022, fellowship/scholarship income goes on line 8r of Schedule 1 (a line specifically for fellowship/scholarship) so there's no longer a "SCH" code on the line.

If that's not where it is, reply back for a workaround.

Thank you! It shows up on line 1h of 1040 and not 8r of Schedule 1. I have read the same about line 8r of Schedule 1, but I do not know how to enter any data there from my desktop TT Premium for the Mac. I cannot enter a number even in the forms view. I appreciate your support.

To report it as scholarship, don't enter in the income section.  Instead enter at educational expenses & scholarships.

Federal Taxes Tab (Personal for H&B version)

Deductions & Credits

-Scroll down to:

--Education

  --Education Expenses and Scholarships

After answering no to having a 1098-T, answer yes to qualifying for an exception (that gets you to the  entry screens). You'll have to go thru the whole education interview to get to the scholarship screen. At the scholarship screen, enter the amount of the grant. When asked if any was used  for room and board, answer yes. Then enter the amount you want to be taxable (all of it), in the pop up box.

From what you describe,  line 1h of form1040, would also not be incorrect.
