How do I edit the amount of scholarships I received?

Turbo tax has listed that I received a scholarship for my current education (over $20k), which is not true. There was an error on the original 1098-T form, which had the same amount of money, but I have since received a new form that lists my scholarships and grants as $0, which is accurate. I cannot edit this information via TurboTax, so I'm not sure what to do! Please help.

You should be able to edit the original 1098-T to reflect what the corrected 1098-T reports in the TurboTax program.

Go to:

  • Federal Taxes
  • Deductions & Credits
  • Under "Your tax breaks" should be
  • Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T) click Edit/Add
  • Click Edit next to your name
  • Click on the first (top) edit box next to Tuition
  • Next screen should read "Did you get a 1098-T?" click Yes and Continue
  • On the next screen you can edit box 5.

If you are still having trouble, you can delete the form and start over:

Click My Account on top blue banner

On "Tools Center" scroll down to "Delete a form"
