Education credit optimizer gives a different answer each time it runs (toggles between two different results)

TurboTax will choose the deduction or credit that saves you the most in tax payments. Example: It's possible that there is no difference between the Lifetime Learning Credit and Tuition and Fees Deduction with regards to taxes.

You can make your own selection:

Go to Search (top right), then type the exact phrase 'letme' into Ask your question or search TurboTax. Jump to letme.

'Do you want to change the education calculations?' Answer Yes, then select.

Thanks. I was able to make the correct selection manually using this method. It should be noted that the optimizer was not operating properly - alternately arriving at two different solutions with tax liability differing by several thousand dollars (no other changes made to the data).

I am having the same problem. I entered it manually as well. Thanks for the tip.
