Does anyone deduct mileage to non paid events as a school board member?

If you are just attending a school board meeting as a citizen, you cannot deduct the mileage.  

If you have a role or duty that is volunteer in nature, then you can deduct your mileage as a charitable donation if you are itemizing your return.
