Can I write off my tuition at a school I transferred to as less than halftime enrollment when I met the half time enrollment status of 3 months earlier in 2018?

I was a full time student at a community college for three months of 2018 where I had grants covering my tuition, I then received my associates degree and transferred to a university where I was enrolled as less than half time and had to pay my full tuition. Would I be able to write off the tuition from the university as  I have met the half time or more minimum of for 2018 as stated in turbotax? "What counts as half-time?

A student is considered to be half-time or more if they carried at least one-half the normal full-time workload. He or she only needs to be half-time for one academic period that began during 2018 (or the first 3 months of 2019 if the qualified expenses were paid in 2018).

If you're not sure about your enrollment status, Box 8 of your Form 1098-T will tell you whether you were at least half-time for your course of study."

Even though you were 'less than half-time' at your second school, you may qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit (up to $2000) to help with your out-of-pocket expenses.

It wouldn't help you to report 'at least half-time' for your first school, since you had no expenses there.
