Can I claim my educational credit from 1098T if my college tuition is paid by gift from a foreign individual?

Question as seen as the title. Received the gift to my bank account, use the money to pay tuition for college. Can use 1098T to claim educational credits?

Yes. The fact that the money was a gift is not relevant, for the tuition credit. 

 

The reporting of gifts from foreigners is a different issue. https://www.irs.gov/businesses/gifts-from-foreign-person
