2024 tax return with dependents

Hello all, I probably already know the answer but I keep seeing so many different things on the internet. I did not work in 2024 and have two children. I assumed I shouldn’t file anything since I didn’t earn any income. But I keep getting told different by others. When I put in my information on turbo tax it clearly said $0 for federal but it’s showing a CO state refund back. Could this just be an error in the system?

No, it isn't an error. ‌Colorado provides a child tax credit that is refundable. ‌Meaning, you can receive a refund even if you owe no Colorado income tax. However, you must provide support for the children.
