Try these steps:

If you did not take a disaster distribution from your pension funds between 2018 and 2020, there may be a question that needs to be reviewed.  Follow these steps.

  • Go to Federal / Wages & Income.
  • Scroll down to Wrap up income.
  • Continue.
  • At the screen Did you take a disaster distribution at any time between 2018 and 2020? answer No

Now watch the headings under Federal closely.

  • When you are in Deductions & Credits
  • Scroll down and click on Wrap up tax breaks.
  • Then you are in Other Tax Situations.
  • Scroll down and click on Let's keep going.
  • Continue through to Federal Review

Form 8915-E is for if you were adversely affected by a qualified 2020 disaster or impacted by the coronavirus and you received a distribution that qualifies for favorable tax treatment

I followed these steps, answered no, and this still comes up!  I did NOT take any distributions! This is the only thing keeping me from filing my taxes!  Please help!

If you have a 1099-R entry, go back to that entry and EDIT.

Was this a withdrawal due to a Qualified Disaster Distribution? Select No.

On the 1099-R Summary page hit Continue.

You will see the "Did you take a disaster distribution at any time between 2018 and 2020?  No, I didn't.

Distributions related to 2016 and 2017 disasters are not allowed in 2020. However, you may have made repayments of distributions related to 2016 or 2017 disasters in 2020.  @SKIPPER4602
